Well, it is a good thing that I am not really a consultant.
I am a practitioner of optimizing the workflow of various businesses. I work on a contract basis only to allow my efforts to be utilized by the maximum number of companies possible.
That's a good way to put it, Corey.
The way I see it, we're all consultants whether we are employed by one company or work for ourselves contracting out to multiple companies. We're hired for our specialized knowledge and skills.
I appreciate your comments and when I posted this it was really poking fun at what we do. I certainly don't think consulting is a BS job. It can actually be very rewarding and very exciting, but it doesn't come without hard work and sacrifice.
Unfortunately, the reality of this post shows what we as consultants battle on daily basis. It's the fact that some people don't take us seriously because they either have misconceptions of the profession (regardless of industry) or have had bad experiences with consultants. As they say, one bad apple spoils the whole bushel. I hope we can break through that with this blog and our organization.
