Business Writing Basics Scheduled for March TVCNet Meeting

Some recent posts in the last week or two concentrated on business writing. I thought they would be a good lead in for our upcoming TVCNet meeting on March 27th as Peggy Jordan from Working Words Communications presents Business Writing Basics.

Those who know me and read my TVCNet blog posts understand that I'm a huge proponent of consultants using their writing skills to craft their message, demonstrate their unique thinking and knowledge of business and specialized areas of expertise through their own blogs, articles and books. Writing in and of itself may be an art, but good, solid writing is a skill every business professional needs to communicate, establish credibility, and build key relationships. Consultants and small businesses owners rarely have the resources and staff to serve as an in-house communications department. The responsibility usually rests on them to generate the letters, e-mails, proposals, promotional materials, bios, web content, press releases, articles, blog posts, etc.

I'm excited about this presentation and what it will cover. Peggy will discuss:

  • The Three Commandments of Communication
  • The most common mistakes to avoid in writing
  • How to make sure the words you choose are working and communicating effectively
  • When outsourcing your work, how to make sure you are getting your money’s worth.
Peggy will also have some handy checklists and tips business owners can apply immediately to their business communications.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 27th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Chicago Connection located at 1935 South Eagle Road in Meridian. Business-to-business consultants and business owners are encouraged to attend this FREE event. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by calling (208) 484-6919 or e-mail me, Justin Beller, at justin@tvcnet.org.
